Many business managers have experimented with adding good-natured fun to the workplace. Approaches may vary, but research suggests that an upbeat and fun work environment can have a significant positive impact on productivity and morale.
Here are three simple ways to add cheer to the workplace:
- Use humor. Seek ways to add some (tasteful) fun to your team. Humor is a powerful tool. In moderation that can build a warmer, more supportive workplace.
- Stay positive. Providing feedback means letting an employee know what they are doing wrong — and right. Look for the good in all of your co-workers and employees.
- Encourage workers to take breaks. People are generally more productive when they take advantage of some down time. Encourage employees to take breaks and to get away from their desk at lunchtime at least some of the time.
